by posted 07/08/2020

We are pleased to announce that the State of Massachusetts has released guidelines for Phase III, Part 1 and baseball games are permitted! Games for our majors division will begin tomorrow, minors and farm begin this evening and instructional and T-ball will begin this Saturday.

Instructional games originally scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week will be cancelled.

Here is the latest information. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

2020 Swampscott Little League Games Guidelines
Before coming to the field, all participants, coaches and spectators must show no signs or symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days. Current list of symptoms is available here.

  • All players, parents and other spectators must wear a mask when entering and exiting the field.
  • All coaches, umpires and league officials must wear a mask at all times.
  • Players are not required to wear masks on the field, but may do so per parent/player preference. Players are required to wear a mask off the field, including in the dugout/bench area and during pre/post-game meetings.
  • Spectators are encouraged to wear masks and should be socially distanced by family/household.

  • There is no sharing of most equipment, including bats, helmets, gloves, batting gloves and catching headgear. Catching shin guards and chest protectors must be disinfected before allowing a different player to use it.
  • Baseballs will be rotated frequently throughout each game and will be wiped clean.
  • There will be a designated area in each dugout/bench area for players to leave their bat pack and other equipment.

Food & Beverages

  • Players must bring their own labeled water bottles. If your child does not bring a water bottle, the team may provide single-use water bottles.
  • Any snacks must be pre-packaged and labeled with the player's name.
  • No sharing of snacks, food or drinks of any kind.
  • No gum is allowed.
  • No sunflower seeds are allowed.
  • No spitting is allowed.

Other Important Safety Measures

  • We need to limit the amount of spectators at games, particularly spectators who may struggle to socially distance from other spectators.
  • Signage will be posted at all of our ballfields to remind players, coaches and spectators to practice social distancing and good hygiene.
  • If there is a team still on the field or exiting the field, please wait until the team has completely left the field before entering.
  • Coaches will be socially distanced from the children, but will be in close proximity enough to coach and remind the kids about social distancing.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided and will be used periodically by all coaches and players throughout the game.
  • Dugouts and benches will be thoroughly cleaned before and after every game.
  • No handshakes, high fives, chest bumps or other personal contact celebrations are allowed.
  • For games at Forest Ave, there will be a limit of one person in the rest room at a time. The restrooms will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected on a routine basis.
  • Once the game and any post-game team huddles are complete, please exit the field and the parking lot/area as soon as possible.
